Connect a custom domain
Put your published CodeRocket website at an address such as www.yourdomain.com without transferring your domain or changing your email provider.
What you will do
Choose your address in CodeRocket, add one DNS record at your domain provider, then wait for CodeRocket to confirm the connection and activate HTTPS.
Before you start
- 1Publish at least one version of your CodeRocket website.
- 2Have access to the account that manages your domain’s DNS records.
- 3Use www.yourdomain.com for the simplest and most compatible setup.
- 4Keep the CodeRocket settings page open so you can copy any additional verification record it displays.
Recommended address
Use www.yourdomain.com. “www” is a subdomain, so every provider in this guide can connect it with a standard CNAME record.
Want to use yourdomain.com without “www”?
Root domains do not support a standard CNAME everywhere. Connect www first, then configure a redirect from yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com at your domain provider.
1. Choose the domain in CodeRocket
- 1Open your website in Studio.
- 2Open Settings, then Web address.
- 3Choose Use a domain you already own.
- 4Enter the complete address, for example www.yourdomain.com.
- 5Select Connect domain. CodeRocket will show the exact DNS records to add.
2. Add the DNS record
For the recommended www address, add this record at the provider that manages your DNS:

If CodeRocket displays an additional TXT or CNAME verification record, add it exactly as shown. Those values are unique to your domain.
Instructions for your provider
The wording differs between providers, but the record itself stays the same.
Cloudflare
- 1Open your domain in the Cloudflare dashboard, then go to DNS > Records.
- 2Select Add record and choose CNAME.
- 3Enter www as the name and sites.coderocket.app as the target.
- 4Set Proxy status to DNS only while CodeRocket verifies the domain, leave TTL on Auto, then save.
If a record already uses the name www, edit that record instead of creating a duplicate.
Open the provider’s official DNS guideOVHcloud
- 1Open Web Cloud > DNS zones, then select your domain.
- 2Select Add an entry and choose CNAME.
- 3Enter www in Sub-domain and sites.coderocket.app. in Target.
- 4Review the summary and confirm.
OVHcloud accepts the target with a final dot: sites.coderocket.app.
Open the provider’s official DNS guideGoDaddy
- 1Open your Domain Portfolio, select the domain, then open DNS.
- 2Select Add new record and choose CNAME.
- 3Enter www in Name and sites.coderocket.app in Value.
- 4Keep the default TTL and save.
Namecheap
- 1Open Domain List, choose Manage for the domain, then open Advanced DNS.
- 2In Host Records, select Add New Record and choose CNAME Record.
- 3Enter www in Host and sites.coderocket.app in Value.
- 4Leave TTL on Automatic and save the record.
Namecheap adds your domain to the Host field automatically. Enter only www, not the full address.
Open the provider’s official DNS guideIONOS
- 1Open Domains & SSL, use the action menu for your domain, then select DNS.
- 2Select Add record and choose CNAME.
- 3Enter www as the host name and sites.coderocket.app in Points to.
- 4Keep the default TTL and save.
Squarespace Domains
- 1Open the Domains dashboard, select your domain, then open DNS > DNS Settings.
- 2Scroll to Custom Records and select Add record.
- 3Choose CNAME, enter www in Name and sites.coderocket.app in Data.
- 4Save the record.
This also applies to many domains that were moved from Google Domains to Squarespace.

Return to Web address in CodeRocket. Verification is automatic. DNS changes often appear within minutes, but some providers can take up to 24–48 hours.
What the statuses mean
- Waiting for DNS
- CodeRocket cannot see the required record yet. Check the name and target.
- Securing HTTPS
- The DNS record is visible and the secure certificate is being activated.
- Connected
- The custom address is online and protected with HTTPS.
- Needs attention
- Open the domain details and follow the exact record or conflict shown there.
Your website is connected
When the status says Connected, open the address from CodeRocket. Future publications update the website at this same address; publishing never happens automatically.
If the domain does not connect
There are two records named www
A CNAME cannot share the same name with an A, AAAA, another CNAME, or a redirect record. Remove only the conflicting www record, then keep the CodeRocket CNAME.
You entered the complete domain in the Name field
Most providers expect only www in the Name or Host field. They add your domain automatically.
You connected the root domain
Use www.yourdomain.com first. Once it is connected, redirect the root domain to the www address at your provider.
HTTPS is still being secured
Keep every verification record shown by CodeRocket. If you use restrictive CAA records, contact support before changing them.
Do not change your email records
Do not delete MX records or unrelated TXT records. Connecting www changes only the website address and should not alter your existing email service.
